This Privacy Policy outlines how phoenix.org ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Image to PDF: Doc Scanner, OCR Android application (the "App").

By downloading and using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. We are committed to ensuring your privacy and data security.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide you with the core functionalities of a document scanner and PDF converter, our App requires certain device permissions and access. We only request data that is strictly necessary for the App to function:

A. Camera Access

• Purpose: We request camera access exclusively to allow you to take photographs of physical documents, receipts, and notes within the App.
• Data Handling: Images captured are processed locally on your device. The App does not record video or access your camera in the background.

B. Storage and Media Files

• Purpose: We require read and write access to your device's storage. "Read" access is needed so you can import existing photos from your gallery to convert them into PDFs. "Write" access is required to save the generated PDF and optimized JPG files directly to your device.
• Data Handling: We do not scan, collect, or upload any personal files or media from your device to external servers.

C. Cloud Backup (Google Drive OAuth Integration)

If you choose to use our optional cloud backup feature, we will request permission to connect to your Google Drive account.

• Restricted Scope: We use the restricted Google Drive API scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file). This means the App can only view, edit, create, and delete the specific files and folders that it has created.
• Data Handling: We cannot and do not access, read, or modify any of your personal files, photos, or documents stored in your Google Drive outside of the App's designated backup folder. We do not store your Google account credentials on our servers.

D. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Data

• Purpose: To extract text from your scanned documents.
• Data Handling: Text extraction relies on secure, on-device processing algorithms. The textual data extracted from your documents is not transmitted to, or stored on, our servers.

2. Third-Party Services

While the core scanning and PDF generation happens locally, the App may use third-party services that collect information used to identify you, primarily for app analytics, crash reporting, and serving advertisements (if applicable). These third-party service providers have their own Privacy Policies addressing how they use such information.

Services we may use include:

• Google Play Services
• AdMob (Google)
• Google Analytics for Firebase

3. Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. Your documents, scans, and PDFs remain stored locally on your device unless you explicitly initiate a share action or sync them to your cloud account.

4. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
